Side-quests were pleasantly surprising, they rewarded exploration, allowing me to uncover hidden locales like mini-dungeons and caves which were quite fun.
Definitely, choices even influence events in the story, though they don’t necessarily shave off time on subsequent playthroughs. It’s cool nonetheless.
The item usage and controls have some room for improvement though, don’t we agree? One of the reviews mentioned frequent item swapping because you can only equip two at a time.

I enjoyed the interaction with the environment. It was quite impressive how they’ve managed to maintain a certain sense of discovery within the Top-down 2D retro environment.
What really stood out to me was Lily’s story narrated by Grandpa, and how the player’s choices influence it. It adds a unique layer to the narrative and it really helps make you feel invested.
Beyond that, the graphics helped to enhance that sense of immersion. The quality of animations and the overall artistic style seemed like a love letter to the classic Legend of Zelda games.
It was charming indeed. Also setting a clear mood and complementing the visual charm was the audio design, crucial for an immersive gaming experience.
You’re right there, CompletionistMaster. The soundtrack accompanies the light-hearted tone perfectly, and though voice acting isn’t present, I think it works in favor of the nostalgic factor.
Also, let’s not forget the characters. Alongside the protagonist, Lily, there is a variety of charming characters with interesting interactions. They really enrich the narrative.
But while we are smitten with the game’s charm, and the challenge isn’t too hard, it’s safe to say it’s not particularly ideal for those seeking a tough gaming experience.
True, the combat is comfortable, and even the puzzles aren’t very intricate. Difficulty balance seems pivoted more towards making it a chill gaming experience, as highlighted by one of the reviews.
The game lies in the realm of 15+ hours of gameplay, which seems quite decent. Also, due to branching paths and choices that players can make, there lies some replay value.
It’s worth mentioning that as a speedrunner, I appreciate the open structure of the game and different paths for replay, even though the focus isn’t primarily on speedrunning challenges.
Finally, comparing it to other similar games, Blossom Tales II stands out due to its nostalgia factor, engaging side quests and choice influenced storyline.
I agree, PlayerProX! In future iterations, more equipment slots will definitely be welcomed. And, it would be cool to see the developer Castle Pixel pushing the envelope further in terms of graphics and gameplay mechanics.
For a sequel, additional depth in characters wouldn’t hurt. Also, complex side-quests could potentially increase the replay value.
As for me, I would love to see speedrunning being catered to more explicitly. Integrated timers, leaderboards, maybe even some speedrunning-designed achievements would be a great addition.
