CompletionistMaster Hello everyone! CampFire Studio has done it again with their new game Soulmask, published by Qooland Games. From the Steam reviews, it seems they’ve created an engaging survival experience in a mysterious and ancient land. One particular standout feature is the merge of the soul and mask, where you can actually possess the bodies and skills of native people. I’m eager to discuss all the layers they’ve weaved into this game. Let’s start with your overall impressions. What do you guys think?

NewGamer I agree, Soulmask is a fascinating blend of survival, exploration, and tactics. Having delved into the various game worlds, from deserts to rainforests, there’s plenty of ground to cover. The user who compared the group mechanics to Conan on steroids was spot on. Whether you’re farming, adventuring, or just chilling after a busy day, there’s always something to do.

PlayerProX I appreciate the combat system here. It encompasses realistic physics and offers extensive character development opportunities. There are currently 75 different combat skills and special action modules, which allows players to really tailor their fighting style. However, some people mentioned finding the boss fights particularly challenging. It adds a strategic element to gameplay but can be a bit overpowering for some.

SpeedyGamer99 I’m intrigued by the amount of optimization that can be implemented in Soulmask. This isn’t a game you’d want to speedrun, of course, but the unit system offers plenty of automation possibilities. However, some user criticism falls on the armor unlock system requiring the player to deal the killing blow, which could potentially hurt the cooperative gameplay aspect.

CompletionistMaster Excellent points. Now let’s dive deeper into the story and narrative. Ancient ruins, enigmatic masks, mysterious past of civilizations… the lore behind this world is definitely immersive. How does the story unfold, PlayerProX?

PlayerProX The developers have cleverly intertwined the story with gameplay progression. As you explore more, recruit natives, and discover new masks, you gradually uncover the mysteries of this civilization. The fact that your native people have distinct personalities also adds depth to the narrative.

NewGamer Indeed! The game has its unique charm that makes characters feel alive, whether they’re bloodthirsty warriors or drunken layabouts. As for the visuals and graphics, it’s breathtaking. From the lush rainforests to the desolate deserts, CampFire Studio has effectively varied the aesthetics with each climate and its unique creatures.

SpeedyGamer99 Stellar in the sound department as well. Each environment has its own distinct feel and the audio complements that. The roar of beasts, the rustling of leaves… they’ve taken great efforts to make us feel truly in the world.

CompletionistMaster A critical part of Soulmask seems to be the challenge level. PlayerProX, since you’ve worked your way through the combats, how did you find the difficulty?

PlayerProX There’s a range of difficulty, which makes it appealing to many players. However, there are specific parts like the later bosses that are quite tough. These sections definitely require strategy and agility.

NewGamer When it comes to replay value, Soulmask is top-notch. The world is so vast and filled with secrets, and the NPCs, so unique, you’ll want to experience it again and again. Not to mention, the multiplayer aspect brings in whole new dynamics every time.

CompletionistMaster Well, it certainly looks like Soulmask has brought us a beautiful survival experience with rich narrative and characters as well as engaging and strategic gameplay. It’s truly a delight for any sandbox game enthusiast. For those who enjoyed this, you might also like Conan Exiles or Ark, which offer a similar survival and gropu management gameplay. Can’t wait to see more from CampFire Studio!
