Interview with anonymous-villain, the Mastermind behind the turmoil in Defender of the Crown

bgc-villains Greetings, anonymous-villain. Thank you for joining us today. Let’s start with a burning question: What drives you to create such chaos and havoc in ‘Defender of the Crown’?

anonymous-villain Ah, havoc is such a harsh word. I prefer to think of it as… strategic mischief. Power vacuums aren’t just filled by chance, you know. The demise of the King was the perfect opportunity for a little creative reorganization. After all, chaos is but a ladder, and I do my best climbing when the rungs are bloody.

bgc-villains Very poetic, in a sinister way. Now, what’s your opinion on the so-called heroes, the Saxon knights vying for the crown?

anonymous-villain Oh, the Saxon knaves—they’re amusing at best. Robin of Locksley likes to play the gallant mentor, but they’re all stumbling in the dark without my guiding chaos. They think it’s a simple quest for righteousness and chivalry. Little do they know, they’ve walked straight into my web of intrigue and treachery. Pathetic, really, watching them fumble about thinking they can save England.

bgc-villains Speaking of stumbling in the dark, the game is known for its difficulty. Are there any obstacles you, as the mastermind, delight in most?

The banners may fly, and the heroes may smile, but every pixel hides a trap

anonymous-villain Ah, the jousting tournaments! Nothing gives me greater pleasure than watching those wannabe knights being unceremoniously dumped off their horses. And those castle raids—especially the ones where they bungle the infiltration and end up triggering all my deviously placed traps. Those moments are chef’s kisses of strategic brilliance. Thank you, developers, for the toolsets of frustration!

bgc-villains While we’re on the subject, were there any design decisions by the developers that you particularly relished or despised?

anonymous-villain The secret power-ups, I must admit, are a double-edged sword. They allow the player an occasional, fleeting taste of false victory—enough to keep their hope alive, only for me to crush it later. Surprisingly, they often flail about missing these subtle clues, but when they do find them, it’s quite the amusing twist. However, I curse the developers when mighty knights wield these power-ups against my plans. It’s like giving a child a sword; they might just get lucky and poke something important. How irritatingly delightful!

bgc-villains Any particular hidden secrets you care to unmask for our readers?

anonymous-villain Ah, you cheeky inquisitor! Fine, I’ll throw your readers a bone. There’s a hidden trove of resources buried deep in the forests of Sherwood. Quite fittingly, near Locksley’s old haunts. It’s enough to give a slight edge, albeit a temporary one. Use it well, dear players, for it may delay your inevitable demise only a little longer.

bgc-villains Tell us, what’s been your most challenging aspect of thwarting the hero players?

The gallant Saxon knights jousting? Merely pawns, valiantly charging to their doom

anonymous-villain Some of these players exhibit an infuriatingly persistent knack for tactical acumen. It’s both a delight and an annoyance to face someone who understands the delicate ballet of strategy and ruthlessness. Truly, those who manage to outmaneuver my legions and take territories with true strategic flair—those players almost earn my grudging respect. Almost.

bgc-villains You mentioned frustrating aspects earlier. Are there any moves players make that you find particularly galling?

anonymous-villain Beautiful question, really. I find it most galling when players relentlessly raid my castles and rescue damsels in distress. It’s a move straight out of a troubadour’s tale, but in reality, it disrupts my meticulously laid plans. My carefully constructed empires can be unraveled by a single act of chivalrous impertinence. Most infuriating, indeed.

bgc-villains As someone intimately tied to the game’s mechanics, any quirky insights or trivia you’d like to share?

anonymous-villain Why not? Here’s a nugget: the jousting mechanics were intentionally designed to be slightly more difficult to master. It’s not just your charm and quick reflexes, dear challengers. It’s also a subtle nudge from the developers to ensure those moments of defeat sting just a little bit more. Delicious, don’t you think?

bgc-villains As we wrap up, what’s next for you? Should players anticipate your return?

world teetering on the edge of chaos and power struggles

anonymous-villain Return or retirement, who can say? While I may, for now, retreat into the shadows to concoct more devious schemes, rest assured, my influence lingers. The land may briefly breathe easy, but whispers of my malevolent return will soon stir unease again. For chaos and ambition, like the dark tides, always return. Farewell, until our next dance.

bgc-villains And there we have it, players! A revealing, thrilling peek into the mind behind the chaos. Stay sharp and may your sword strikes be true; you’ll need every bit of wit and skill to prevail in ‘Defender of the Crown’.
