Hey guys, how are you? Let’s start off with our impressions of Monster Hunter Stories. As a passionate and competitive gamer myself, I love the strategy and depth Capcom has wrapped into the turn-based battles. User reviews have really hit the mark, noting the tactical puzzle feel in the battles.
Agreed, PlayerProX! There’s a lot to appreciate in an RPG that deviates from your average hack and slash story model, as Monster Hunter Stories does. For me, the customization and depth of item usage had me gripped. Being able to awaken dormant abilities in your Monsties through the Rite of Channeling was brilliant gameplay design and added an extra level of complexity.
You guys aren’t wrong. This game delivers when it comes to engagement. I’m more into speed runs, but I must admit, the journey to raise original Monsties and confront powerful enemies, nailed it in keeping me invested, despite the more relaxed pace.
Exploration, hidden treasures, epic battles. Can I say more? As an adventurous gamer, I was absolutely wide-eyed exploring the varied settings, from lush forests to arid deserts, and interacting with the environment. For a newbie like me, the control mechanics were fairly easy to get the hang of.
Sure, NewGamer, Monster Hunter Stories does a great job in that regard. Speaking of control mechanics, the strategic battle system, which is easy to grasp for both new and veteran gamers, adds a unique twist to RPG norms. As the name suggests, it’s all about stories and bonding.
The story definitely stands out. As highlighted in many user reviews, the narrative between hunters and their monstrous partners is compelling, set in a vibrant world blending hunters and monsters. It’s a layered plot that keeps you guessing until the end. And the voice acting, both in Japanese and English, enhances the overall narrative.
I’m with you, CompletionistMaster. The graphics were equally charming. The anime-inspired aesthetic, colorful environments, and fluid animations were a delight. It made the overall pace and tone of the game more accessible to a wider range of players.
Let’s not forget the sound design though. As user review two pointed out, the orchestral score definitely adds an adventurous feeling, it’s part of what kept me immersed in the hunt.
For sure! And the variety of characters, their development, especially the evolution of the ‘Monsties’, gives life to the in-game universe. The creature design here is diverse and the bond between player and Monstie not only drives the narrative but also adds nuance to the gameplay.
In terms of challenge level, it’s flexible, accommodating both casual and hardcore gamers. There is a complexity to the puzzles and combat difficulty can depend on your choice of Monstie.
Yeah, and the replay value is immense. With additional character editing parts, expanded endgame content, and secrets that are tucked away, there’s a lot of reasons to give it another run. Maybe even a speed run!
Agreed, gonna hang onto Monster Hunter Stories for quite a while. All in all, I think Capcom did a fantastic job with this game. With similar games in the genre, Monster Hunter Stories stands out with its focus on bonding, story, and more strategic combat.
For future iterations, I’d love to see more depth in combat, perhaps more interaction between Monsties during battles. That being said, I’m eager to see Capcom take this franchise further.
More Monsties and exploration environments would also be a plus. And it would be nice to see even more emphasis on the storyline for the sequel.
I agree. It’s a great game, and I just hope they keep it regularly updated with new challenges and tracks for speedrunning fans like me.
Well said everyone! For me, more surprises, hidden gems, and epic battles would make it even more exciting. Until then, let’s keep hunting and forming bonds with our Monsties!
