PlayerProX Greetings, fellow gamers! We’re here today to discuss a fantastic indie cooking simulation sensation, PlateUp! which has been served up by developer It’s Happening and published by Yogscast Games.

NewGamer Absolutely, PlayerProX. It’s a really fresh concept combining restaurant simulation with roguelike mechanics. The steam reviews are gushing over how this game levels up the cooking genre.

SpeedyGamer99 I love that it’s not just about cooking. That procedural generation keeps you on your toes and adds that extra bit of adrenaline when racing the clock!

bright and vibrant colors dominate the scenes, making each kitchen and restaurant setup pop visually

CompletionistMaster Indeed. Starting a new restaurant from scratch and micromanaging every little detail caters precisely to my interests: refining the layout, curating the menus…

PlayerProX Moving onto the mechanics, I’ve been impressed by the item usage and the interactions with the environment as you need strategy and quick controls to keep on top of everything.

NewGamer The different climates and customer types make the system quite dynamic. Buying new equipment, placing it strategically, and upscaling your restaurant gives players a lot of agency.

SpeedyGamer99 Plus working out efficient cooking and serving routes is a sweet challenge. Finding the optimal sequence of actions feels so satisfying.

PlayerProX Coming to the story, PlateUp! doesn’t boast a thick plot, but the characters you create for your restaurant and their journey, of starting up the franchise and seeing it grow, are quite engaging. What are your thoughts, gamers?

CompletionistMaster Personally, for me it’s all about customizing my restaurant, unlocking achievements and scaling up, making my unique mark in the world of PlateUp!

NewGamer I get invested in the journey of expansion, with each new location and external variable introduced. It’s absorbing and tricks you into forgetting you’re playing a game!

Moving on to the visuals, what did we make of those?

SpeedyGamer99 Cartoony is the first word that comes to mind. Fun, quirky and colorful, not taxing your GPU either.

strategically placed appliances and decor that reflect the player’s choices

CompletionistMaster I love observing the details developers put in designing dishes, appliances, decorations and customers alike.

PlayerProX The audio is no less immersive with a lively background score and sizzling sound effects. It gives a bustling restaurant ambiance that complements the hectic gameplay perfectly.

NewGamer Couldn’t agree more! As for characters and their development, creating your own chefs, investing in their skills and wardrobe is a charming feature.

SpeedyGamer99 Onto the challenge level, I appreciate the difficulty curve. It doesn’t throw you in the deep end from the get-go, but gradually ramps up as you progress and unlock new items and features.

CompletionistMaster I adore the depth to PlateUp! The scope of optimisation, improvements and side-quests never make the game seem overwhelming.

PlayerProX Replay value is excellent, with the procedurally-generated locations and variables keeping things fresh. You can continually refine your strategy and workflow.

NewGamer PlateUp! offers a unique take on the cooking simulation genre. It surpasses other similar titles like Overcooked by offering far more control and dynamics over your culinary empire.

CompletionistMaster I really hope that It’s Happening takes this positive reception and continues to enrich the game. More dishes, décor options, and appliances would further improve the depth.

PlayerProX Yes, PlateUp! has been a remarkable surprise in indie gaming. It’s Happening and Yogscast Games have cooked up something special here. I’m looking forward to their future projects!
